Simply put we have recognized that over the past few decades Melbourne has become the hub of style, fashion, culture, food and wine. In recognizing this, the importance of spaces that allow for gathering, engagement, replenishing in our hectic city lives has become vastly important. We need a place to escape, to be, to ponder, to create possibility in order to go forward and further. As Melbourne’s identity has evolved, so too has the need for venues that offer such opportunities that are flexible, exciting and full of possibility.

Juliet Melbourne is named in memory of a bygone era, when Liverpool and Crossley Streets, the adjoining laneways, were Juliet Terrace and Romeo Lane. The names were changed in the late 1800’s, in an attempt to gentrify an area frequented in the past by ‘women and men of the night’.

We were looking for a strong female name as part of our wish to celebrate and represent women in our industry. Our wine, beer and spirit lists and some of our food produce celebrate female producers and artisans. This is a corner stone of the Juliet Melbourne concept.

We are open three nights a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) for cocktails, wine and food, and welcome small and large groups, individuals and couples. Available at other times too for private functions, both small and large. Join us on Thursday nights when we host a Jazz trio, The Romeos.

And join us any night for our acclaimed Swiss style Raclette – Tasmanian Raclette cheese, melted and served table side, irresistibly wicked, perfect for the cooler Wintry months, good to share (or not!), a bit of theatre in itself.
